FitChat Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how FitChat ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the FitChat mobile app.
1) Information We Collect
- Account Information: Email address and password (through Firebase Authentication).
- Profile Information: Display name/username, if provided.
- Voice Dictation Input: Speech-to-text transcription when you use microphone dictation.
- Workout Data: Exercise entries, sets, reps, weight, cardio details, notes, completion timestamps, and related history.
- Chat Content: Messages you send and AI-generated responses.
- Preferences: Measurement system, onboarding status, and local display name preference.
- Technical and Usage Data: Device/app analytics and diagnostics made available by integrated Firebase services.
- Notification Data: Notification permission status and workout rest-timer notification context.
2) How We Use Information
- To create and manage user accounts and authentication sessions.
- To provide app functionality, including workout tracking, chat coaching, and voice-assisted input.
- To generate AI responses and workout summaries.
- To sync exercise/profile data between your device and cloud backend services.
- To secure, debug, maintain, and improve the app.
3) Voice Dictation
- Voice dictation is optional and activated only when you tap the microphone control.
- Speech recognition is handled by platform speech services and returned to the app as text.
- The app uses transcription text to populate fields such as chat, notes, and search.
- The app does not intentionally store raw microphone audio files.
4) AI Processing
- Chat prompts and workout summary text may be processed by Firebase Vertex AI (Gemini).
- Display name may be included in prompts for personalization.
- Please do not submit highly sensitive information in AI prompts.
5) How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data with service providers only as needed to operate the app, including:
- Firebase Authentication (account login and session management)
- Firebase Data Connect and related backend services (exercise/profile syncing)
- Firebase Vertex AI / Gemini (AI-generated responses and summaries)
- Firebase Analytics and other Firebase platform features enabled in the app
6) Storage and Retention
- Data is stored locally on your device and, where applicable, in cloud services.
- Workout and profile data may be synced to cloud backend services tied to your account.
- Chat history may be automatically pruned based on app retention limits.
- We keep data for as long as necessary to provide services and meet legal obligations.
7) Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8) Your Choices and Rights
- You can disable microphone and notification permissions in device settings.
- You can sign out at any time in the app.
- You may request access, correction, or deletion of your data by contacting us.
9) Children's Privacy
FitChat is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without required consent.
10) International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own where our service providers operate. We apply reasonable safeguards for transferred data as required by applicable law.
11) Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date and provide additional notice where required.
